Nebraska Vortex Intercept Team
May 17, 2000 Chase

All Images © Ken Dewey, School of Natural Resources, UNL

We headed southeast to Alma, NE to intercept the rapidly building storm.
Rotation and structure were outstanding and we were greatly encouraged.

As we rounded a curve we found ourselves stopping along with a line of other
chasers  for a long freight train to pass.

As we entered Alma, Ne, there were groups of chasers already there, and
ready for photographing the small supercell approaching from the south.
The Wisconsin license plate on one of the vans read "F5HUNTR".
Commercial chase groups, as noted on this van from Wisconsin, were also
evident throughout the area.
