HERE IS A QUICK RECAP OF THE PROGRESSION OF WINTER WEATHER ACROSS
EASTERN NEBRASKA AND SOUTHWEST IOWA.

FRIDAY NIGHT...FREEZING RAIN STARTED FALLING OVER NORTHEAST NEBRASKA
MAINLY FROM NEAR ALBION TO NELIGH AND CREIGHTON...AND LOCATIONS TO
THE WEST AND NORTHWEST. SNOW OR A MIX OF FREEZING RAIN AND SNOW WAS
REPORTED OVER THE NORTHWEST HALF OF KNOX COUNTY...AND AT LEAST ONE
REPORT OF 4 INCHES OF SNOW WAS RECEIVED NEAR VERDEL IN FAR NORTHWEST
KNOX COUNTY.

SATURDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHT...THE FREEZING RAIN AREA SPREAD SLOWLY
EAST AND SOUTHEAST THROUGH ALBION AND NORFOLK...THEN TOWARD WAYNE...
COLUMBUS AND STANTON.  MEANWHILE...NEARLY CONTINUOUS RAIN WAS
REPORTED OVER THE REST OF EASTERN NEBRASKA AND SOUTHWEST IOWA.

LATE SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY...AS THE PRECIPITATION BEGAN TO WIND
DOWN OVER NORTHEAST NEBRASKA...THE RAIN OVER THE REST OF EASTERN
NEBRASKA CHANGED TO A WINTRY MIX OF FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET...THEN
TO ALL SNOW BY MID SUNDAY MORNING. THE TRANSITION THROUGH THE WINTRY
MIX TO SNOW OCCURRED OVER SOUTHWEST IOWA BY EARLY SUNDAY AFTERNOON.
SNOW CONTINUED THROUGH ABOUT 4 OR 5 PM IN EASTERN NEBRASKA...WITH
MODERATE TO HEAVY BURSTS OF SNOW OCCURRING FROM NEAR LINCOLN TO
FREMONT AND ONAWA IOWA. LIGHT SNOW CONTINUED IN PARTS OF SOUTHWEST
IOWA UNTIL ABOUT 6 PM WHEN ALL WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES WERE
CANCELLED.

PATCHY BLOWING SNOW CONTINUED INTO SUNDAY EVENING AS NORTHWEST WINDS
GUSTED OVER 30 MPH.

BOONE...ANTELOPE...PIERCE AND MADISON COUNTIES....

SIGNIFICANT AND DAMAGING ICING OCCURRED OVER MUCH OF THIS AREA
WITH ICE ACCUMULATIONS IN EXCESS OF 1 INCH REPORTED.  THE
SIGNIFICANT ICING EXTENDED INTO SECTIONS OF MADISON COUNTY...MAINLY
WEST THROUGH NORTH OF NORFOLK. NUMEROUS TREE LIMBS AND POWER LINES
WERE DOWNED ACROSS THIS AREA ALONG WITH HUNDREDS IF NOT INTO THE
THOUSANDS OF POWER POLES.  MANY PEOPLE WERE STILL WITHOUT POWER AS
OF SUNDAY AFTERNOON...WITH SOME WATER AND 911 SERVICES ALSO KNOCKED
OUT.  THE FREEZING RAIN ALSO KNOCKED NOAA ALL HAZARDS RADIO IN
ALBION OFF THE AIR.

PLATTE...WAYNE...STANTON AND CEDAR COUNTIES...

ONE-QUARTER TO ONE-HALF INCH OF ICE ACCUMULATIONS WERE REPORTED
ACROSS THESE COUNTIES.  THE ICE DOWNED SOME POWER LINES AND TREE

TO BE LESS THAN LOCATIONS TO THE NORTH OR WEST EXPERIENCED.

KNOX COUNTY...
THE NORTHERN HALF OR SO RECEIVED SNOW OR A MIX OF FREEZING RAIN AND
SNOW. SEVEN INCHES OF SNOW WAS REPORTED NEAR NIOBRARA AND 6 INCHES
AT CROFTON.  THE SOUTHERN HALF RECEIVED MOSTLY FREEZING RAIN BUT
