Road conditions continued to deteriorate with more and more of these sections of loose gravel and dust Kluane Lake, midway between Whitehorse, Yukon
 and the Alaska border
The Alaska Highway is undergoing some major repairs. Note the huge potholes ahead of our vehicle
The further north we went, we found the road more torn up with many potholes and numerous gravel sections where
the asphalt had to be removed after breaking up
Slowing down for the road hazards allowed us to at least more easily see the wildlife along side the road.
The freshly groomed gravel made the road smooth but flying rocks from other vehicles was a hazard Another abandoned motel and service center
along the Alaska Highway
There may be a connection to a changing climate and reduction in caribou herd numbers in this area The road is paved along this portion, however there
were occasional deep potholes

A photogenic rainbow appears as we approach the Alaska border along the Alaska Highway
A young moose suddenly runs out in front of our vehicle and then decides to retreat to the woods
The sun comes out as we reach the Alaska border crossing
Only 200 more miles to Delta Junction, the official end of the Alaska Highway and only another 98 miles to Fairbanks
